Extravagant Preview Launch Party for Asian Wedding Exhibition

To celebrate the 10th year of the Asian Wedding Exibition (a brilliant innovation of style guru, Yogesh Kanani) – the original wedding show for Asians, which will be taking place at the Wembly Exibition Hall on 31st January 2004, the creative team of the last 2 years running threw a fabulous launch party.
The location was Vinopolis, the famous wine museum in London Bridge. The party started with all the guests mingling with each other and catching up on events. The wine cellar was lovely and the bites were served by waiters and the various varieties of wine were flowing freely.
Some celebrity guests like Narinder of Big Brother were there, alongside London born Seeta Indrani, who is known to millions as WPC Norika Datta from The Bill – she left the show some time back. Award winning Seeta Indrani made her stage debut as Cassandra in the original production of Andrew Lloyd-Webber's CATS – no mean feat for an Asian woman. She was looking every bit a star, dressed to chic perfection.
The catwalk and dinner party was arranged in a banqueting suite upstairs from the wine area. One must appreciate the decorations, which included fresh flowers adorning even the staircase railings!
Designers such as Khubsoorat, RCKC and Kyles Collection who do amazing jewellery were showcasing a sample of what is to come in January 2004 on the night. The special guest was master shoemaker, Jimmy Choo, the man behind the most famous fashion shoes in the world!
The Hair, Make-up and styling was by the Zaynab Creative team, Zaynab and Husband Zia, who featured in the Best British entrepreneurs show on TV are a duo with vision. Brilliant Zaynab Mirza, who runs the Pinner based salon, Zaynab -The Beauty Co. had launched her Make-up brand Provoke Cosmetics in January 2003 – being a frequent regular at the salon, I can certainly vouch for the colours and textures, which have been made to suit Asian skins to perfection, but not leaving any stones turned, Zaynab has catered for European skins too! The explosion of colours is truly spectacular. At the salon, the very lovely Nadia treats all the daytime customers to excellent service.
Going onto the catwalk, the designs were wonderful. The models were looking really sharp and carried off the daring designs very well. The colours were the boldest I have seen in a while, but in true Asian fashion, it worked! Some of the designs which caught my eye were the Maroon net Lhenga for ladies and the complementary Maroon Sherwani for men. There was a black Sherwani which was also magnificent. The main men’s outfit I loved was the Cream Sherwani, which dazzled, with glittering green squares; this was a marvellous looking item. The girls wore many a lovely Lhenga suit, some with blends of colours, stripes, and some bright ones, in lime green and bright yellow and orange – things to come for 2004 really look inviting in the Asian fashion world!
For the wedding services, the party was attended by Jeya Ravi of Flower Power – not only is she a lovely person, who creates out of her fruitful imagination, but her new work is set to take over the flower world! Husband and wife of Jay and I services were also there, always smiling and innovating. In house bridal designer for RCKC, Kaval was there, supported by her Computer Professional Husband, Rishi.
As for the food, what can I say, Café Lazeez lived up to it’s reputation by providing a sumptuous meal, full of flavour! Living up to the word Lazeez, meaning delicate, aromatic, pleasing to the senses and delicious to the taste! The dessert was the highlight; the Rasmalai was absolutely delicious, blending the precise amounts of cardamom, saffron and pistachios to whet the palette!
